Hi, I'm Amber, the founder and designer of House of Basicz. Born and raised in the Netherlands. As a boys mom, I found myself on a quest for basic boys' clothing that didn’t scream “cars” or “dinosaurs” in bright, flashy colors. I wanted stylish, comfortable oversized pieces that met my expectations without the hefty price tag of big-name brands. But every time I searched i found only options that just didn’t resonate.
Determined to rise to the challenge, I decided to take matters into my own hands. I began exploring the possibility of creating my own shirts and stumbled upon a manufacturer who shared my vision. After crafting samples and refining designs, the journey truly began. I launched Basicforboyz, aiming to provide the understated style I craved. We started with just one longsleeve, but the response was so positive that within a year, we developed a full collection.
However, the feedback I received was eye-opening. Girls wanted to wear these pieces too! Inspired by this inclusivity, I rebranded to Basicforkidz, making our collection unisex and accessible for every child. As we continue to grow and added teenager sizes to our offerings, i realized the name Basicforkidz no longer suited our expanding vision. I wanted to include adult styles in the future, so we made a leap rebrand as House of Basicz, a name that covers all age groups and reflects our evolving identity.
It’s been a rollercoaster ride filled with ups and downs, but through it all, we’ve remained committed and motivated to build a brand that celebrates every individual's unique style. Today we stand stronger than ever, ready to share our vision with the world—basic pieces that are anything but ordinary.
